Ok OPPO! Boy do I have a challenge for you! Find me a legal Skyline GTR (or GTS-T or Autech Sedan) for sale!

BUT IN A MINI, YOU CANNOT INTO SKYLINE IN BURGERLAND!

STORY TIMES!: YUO of being mostly right. HOWEVER, there was an exception; 1996-1998 GTS-T, GTR, Autech Sedan, and V-Spec are allowed and there are MANY well kept examples in Japan along with Australia. Also I live in FL, so there are many legit RIs.

Just going to rub in that Canada has a 15 year import ban, not the 25 year, eh?

Is there a reason this is so cheap?

Avoid these "legal" R33s, they are not worth the hassle or price.

A R32 GTR, which is REALLY a legal car, is superior in every way anyways and you will end up spending a fraction of what these sell for (in the US, overseas they are cheap).

Don't spend $30-$80k on a car that in Canada is worth 9. Spend $15k - $20k on a R32 GTR that is as minty as possible and isn't chopped up to meet US regulations.

While the R33 model years you listed are indeed eligible for import, there are rather costly modifications that must be made to the vehicle before it can be released to the owner, including crash structure reinforcement, changing to DOT-compliant glass, conversion of the EMS to OBD-II, etc. As I recall, there are only a handful of RIs in the country that know how/are willing to do the modifications; last I heard, the company that did all of the work for Motorex to legalize the R33 (including the crash testing) charges somewhere around $30k to do this work.

I actually encountered one of these truly-legal R33s on Craigslist a while back, and it was listed for... $45k, IIRC. The following ad seems to be for the same car for $35k, but I have no idea if it's still actually for sale (I can't find it listed anywhere else). It is one of the few 1995 models that were imported before the NHSTA changed the eligible production date, and were grandfathered in.
